akaza has the ability to detect what he calls the "fighting spirit" of other people. this could also be called a person's killing intent, hatred, anger, or bloodlust, or alternatively their drive, passion, motivation, or will to fight. this fighting spirit appears to him as an aura around a person, the size and color seem to be indicative of the individual's own personal will at that time, and may be fluid -- for example, if someone is driven into a corner and motivated to fight back harder, their fighting spirit may grow in size and burn brighter.
his perception of someone's fighting spirit enables him to anticipate their attacks, even those that come from his blind spots, and to magnetically hone in on their weak points. at this time, i don't intend for him to pick any life or death fights with anyone, but this is important enough to mention.
an example of how he perceives fighting spirit in canon, with kyojuro standing over tanjiro:
according to akaza, even infants have a small fighting spirit, and in his few hundred years, he's only seen one person with the capability to erase theirs for any length of time. someone who can achieve something like inner peace, true enlightenment, nirvana, etc, and consciously release all of their killing intent, can "hide" from him in this way. they don't get picked up on his radar, more akin to a background plant than another person on the battlefield.
additional considerations unrelated to fighting spirit, but relevant to being a demon: akaza's biggest weaknesses are sunlight and the wisteria plant. if your character has any sun-adjacent powers or weapons infused with sunlight, or grows wisteria or carries part of the plant on their person, you can either hurt or repel him. lastly, humans with exceedingly rare blood types smell more tempting to demons. we're talking AB- or rarer. this doesn't mean he'll instantly attack your character, but it would be nice to know for flavor! (pun fully intended tbh)

Sidney: A taut field of taut strings- always present, ready to spring into action the moment they're tripped. ... But what trips them?
Lilly: On average, its akin to a field of flowers. But if something sets her off, the air shifts completely- like the moon in the night sky, like the haze of the forest, something takes over, ready to bloom to life specifically to destroy her enemies. ... And then back to flowers. Yay~
Possible changes: skipping lily bc i just answered that lol
Mafuyu: Good question.
Sidney: From a field of tripwires to a pack of wolves with one intent: find the threat and destroy it!
Can they erase it?: Lily can! Be caught off guard by the gentle flower, idiots!!!!! Sidney less so but he's better at just. Being Chill While Tense.
Sun/wisteria: Nope.
Anything else: While Mafuyu's just fighting for the will to live, our lovely demon might notice a different fighting spirit sometimes, hovering around her, small and vicious and furious.

Date: 2025-09-16 10:41 pm (UTC)Can he anticipate attacks?: Only if Vil can anticipate his back :^) They basically do the same thing but Vildred is human so he doesn't have any cosmic aura sensing, this is just a result of his training. His weakpoints are that he is a Human Man, he just slots into one man army. That said Akaza might also be able to find out the fact through this that if he goes for the face it's Going to piss Vil off enough to be Lethal-
Default fighting spirit: Honestly standard for a knight?? Most of the time it's on the medium-lower end. It's not that he wants to fight everything all the time, it's kind of just an honour thing and determination thing. It simmers like hot water, and gives off a sense of "calm before the storm". I guess effects wise it's a greenish colour and feels warm and earthy.
anyway when i canon update him to 7th timeline this will change lol so hold me to remembering to update it in another year
Possible changes: so like have you ever seen fires started by trying to put water on a grease fire because that's exactly how his aura flares when he's in a fight. This man has to Survive, he has to kill whatever he's facing, he has to protect Ras and the world as a whole. This is his core motivation and pretty much his entire reason to live and do what he does.
anyway it will reduce to being almost nonexistent IF and only IF you can knock the will to fight out of this man, he's uh. pretty stuck to his principles.
Can they erase it?: Nop
Sun/wisteria: Nop just a guy
Anything else: he gets a very confident flare of fighting will when near Ras. if Ras is in danger at all it's like looking into a nuke immediately after exploding. loyal gays amirite 🙄

Default fighting spirit: Right now he's fucking depressed— it's pretty low. It's enough to survive, and appears kind of like a thin translucent shield around his person.
Possible changes: If he can ever be re-motivated the shield appearance will be much stronger and thicker.
Can they erase it?: Nop
Sun/wisteria: Ain grows wisterias outside of his tailor shop and they're his favourite flower. He doesn't carry them in his pocket or anything, but stray bits might be in his hair sometimes because he naps under the trees.
Sun stuff not reaaaally, he hasn't spent extended time around the Sun El so that should be fine. The most he's done is kind of associated with the library ghost and got his brain stamped by it, and Zahran being the good section of the sun might? do something? idk if this counts though lol.
Blood type rarity: his blood type is uh. it's "blood" but it's also raw el (magic) energy and also green. is this rare. is angel blood rare-???
Anything else: he's depressed and it's probably easy to tell that there's residual fighting spirit left behind that he's just. not feeling rn.

Date: 2025-09-16 11:20 pm (UTC)Can he anticipate attacks?: i can't believe i have to say this twice. yes, if thorns can anticipate his, (Thorns' operates on a more magical basis, since his arm lets him just sense the entire world around him so thoroughly it's like being hiveminded with it)
Default fighting spirit: wouldn't it be funny if i said his aura was shaped like a sea urchin? anyway it's shaped like a sea urchin
it's yellow and vivid and the spikes are always changing. A lot of this is out of entirely self-preservation though. Thorns would genuinely rather not duke it out if he doesn't have to.
Possible changes: if he sees a seaborn he gets spikier—
In general Thorns has never lost?? the will to fight?? He's been through so much dude, every bad thing that happens motivates him to fight back that much harder.
Can they erase it?: No, he has no zen
Sun/wisteria: No, only metal and poisons. Unless he figured out how to brew a poison of wisteria? I guess he could, but he has no beef with Akaza so ? ? ? ?

Date: 2025-09-16 11:27 pm (UTC)Can he anticipate attacks?: yes. this will make flamebringer worse in possibly a horny sense. i dont know man. his weakest point is the fact he's blind in one eye currently, but this may feel like less of a weakness and more of a challenge some days. guy's fucking feral.
Default fighting spirit: Okay so you know how everyone else I play ranges from "calm but will fight back" to "depressed"? ? ? Flamebringer is dialed up to "will kick ass at any moment". A pin could drop and he'd be on you with his swords out. It feels like breathing in his direction would be dangerous sometimes, even though these days he's generally domesticated. The urge to Punch is simmering under the surface though.
His aura is like fire! wow! what else would it be! and it genuinely takes up like half the room. This man wants to Fight.
Possible changes: if he sees Wolfwood the urge to punch gets worse— with Ezell it's a lot calmer. If Ezell gets hurt it's suddenly 10x worse though. around kids it becomes more protective-feeling, but doesn't weaken at all.
his fighting spirit has never died ever and i don't imagine it's going to. I'm pretty sure if he died and became Corpse that the corpse would still have fight left in it. Do not reanimate the Flamebringer.
Can they erase it?: good lord no, what the fuck is zen can you eat it
Sun/wisteria: he gardens so he might possibly have essence of wisteria on him? but he also has essence of every other goddamn plant on him so this may not apply fully.
Blood type rarity: i wonder if he even has a normal blood type. anyway his blood is full of rocks, so probably like... dooooon't. free oripathy tho!
Anything else: i hate this animal. the flamebringer.

Date: 2025-09-16 11:39 pm (UTC)Can he anticipate attacks?: Yes, absolutely. I think there may be a little delay (like with Lily) simply because the more otherwordly/magical nature, but only his Phoenix powers. Any sort of actual combat, go for it.
Default fighting spirit: Usually it's pretty muted, if steady, like a candle that's been burning for a long time.
Possible changes: When he's in combat, particularly when he's fighting to protect, it gets to blazing like fire, spanning out like wings behind his back. This only gets worse when Kiera is in danger.
Can they erase it?: Nope.
Sun/wisteria: Nah, you know the lore. He's fire aspected, not Sun aspected. Maybe if Iggs ever shows up.

Date: 2025-09-16 11:42 pm (UTC)Can he anticipate attacks?: Sort of (see below). That said, this Verso might be able to do the same. There isn't anything supernatural about his ability, though, just sheer force of will and talent.
Default fighting spirit: On the day to day? There's nothing. All Akaza will be able to detect (so long as Verso isn't fired up) is a blank canvas.
Possible changes: When he does actually fight, Verso's spirit will flicker in and out, like it's being sketched and erased repeatedly. Your choice on whether or not it impacts Akaza's ability to track his movements.
Can they erase it?: Not intentionally :)
Sun/wisteria: Nah.
Anything else: You had to know I'd make it tragic!

Can he anticipate attacks?: It's tricky. Mizuki himself does think about what he's doing, but sometimes he'll dodge without thinking or stab something with his tentacles that he isn't aware is there because We Many controls his battle instincts a lot of the time. It isn't something he'd be Aware Of? If that makes sense??? So yknow ymmv, we can always talk about it in DMs if u wanna!!! But also because of what he'd see from his spirit (see below-) I feel like the things he'd anticipate were not Mizuki's own moves, but the ones influenced by We Many????????? idk if this makes sense playing a hivemind is weird and I'm rambling.
Default fighting spirit: So we're starting with Mizuki because he's going to be. The weirdest one to navigate. For starters, I doubt he'd ever try to fight someone because gestures at all of Mizuki, but if u did, his would be, like, all over the place. Mostly because his fighting spirit is not... his. Not really. He would see the collective Seaborn's, and it would be wild and thrashing All The Time.
Possible changes: Unless somehow sticks manages to finally sweep Mizuki into his godhood route, none-
Can they erase it?: Not currently.
Sun/wisteria: N/A but he obviously swallowed the moon shard so he's got that goin' for him.
Anything else: He's so small you know this about Mizuki he tries so hard to disarm fights-
Ras
Opt-In or Opt-Out?: In??? He's also complicated so I understand if ur like "Rubie this is so much." I'm so sorry
Can he anticipate attacks?: Yes, but it's probably not straightforward?? He's just a sentient rock in a body puppet basically, so he's like All Magic and Space Manipulation.
Default fighting spirit: Weirdly soothing - one that u would expect from the protector-type. Never thirsty, never chaotic, but gets intense when he's fighting off creatures.
Possible changes: It will die out completely if Vildred dies near him. :)
Can they erase it?: Not intentionally.
Sun/wisteria: He can cut open tears of reality that have some kind of light pouring out of them. It's not explicitly said to be sunlight, but it is the goddess of life's light, so ?????????

Ezell
Opt-In or Opt-Out?: In!
Can he anticipate attacks?: Yes! Though, he might note that it might change if he sees any mood changes from his opponent. He's an empath, after all, so he uses that to his advantage the best he can in battle.
Default fighting spirit: It's real small. Ezell is a pacifist for a reason. Even if his empathy gives him some advantage in a fight, it also ruins him when he feels someone else's pain and suffering. Have you felt what it feels like to die without having to die yourself????? Ezell has-
Possible changes: Standard stuff you'd expect? Chaotic when he's afraid and trying to self-preserve, big and bright when he's trying to protect someone, etc.
Can they erase it?: Nope.
Sun/wisteria: None.
Anything else: Ezell's not really good in a physical fight, either. He relies a lot on his shotgun.
Mephisto
Opt-In or Opt-Out?: In!
Can he anticipate attacks?: Yes!
Default fighting spirit: Wild, Chaotic, and almost extremely destructive. It looks like flying feathers and smoke.
Possible changes: seesaws hand. None currently that I can think of, he's always planning how he wants to hurt people-
Can they erase it?: No.
Sun/wisteria: None.
Anything else: He can summon actual smoke around him, so it may be a hassle to track in a fight. But he's also 16 and doesn't have legs so-
Elsword
Opt-In or Opt-Out?: In
Can he anticipate attacks?: Yes
Default fighting spirit: Much like Ras, it's what you'd expect from a protector-type, but even more so. It probably resembles full on shields, tbh.
Possible changes: If it's just a spar or him fighting alone, nothing. If there's other people there? It's overwhelming in battle. Like it's just the urge to protect and make sure no one gets hurt and aaaaaaaaa
Can they erase it?: No.
Sun/wisteria: Nothing.

Nanami: she hates killing, ZERO killing intent, no anger in her little body. she was programmed to be immensely against people killing and hurting each other (video games don't count) but she has EXTREME passion for video games and for taking care of/protecting loved ones. teeny tiny little pink spirit except for when its not.
Astrid: has a lot of anger in them towards the world and certain people. has a lot of drive/passion to be useful. Wispy and grey.
Firefly/Sam: SOOOO MUCH PASSION/DRIVE/MOTIVATION/WILL TO FIGHT. not necessarily against other people, unless she has to, but moreso against the world and fate. Definitely blazes like a flame.
Possible changes:
Nanami: i think it would be funny if it only really blazed up when gaming. though she does also have a drive to protect those she cares about so it might also increase if shes trying to protect someone.
Astrid: I CANT THINK OF ANYTHING RN.
Firefly/Sam: When in the SAM suit, probably blazes even brighter and more likely for killing intent to come into the mix.
Can they erase it?: probably not
Sun/wisteria: naw

Default fighting spirit: Min-Gi's is blue, faint, and kind of repressed. He's not a fighter so it's probably kind of weak. Cy's fighting spirit is brighter. It's ethereal, kind of resembling an aurora. It's not aggressive, almost seeming more like she's fighting for herself.
Possible changes: Probably just what you'd expect. When Min-Gi is angry it probably is more prominent, but not more powerful. Cy's might fade to be less dramatic when she is hurt or unwell.
Can they erase it?: No for both.
Sun/wisteria: No.
Anything else: N/A

Default fighting spirit: Tex is the kind of person who will just punch people if they're annoying her, at least if they're also wearing Halo-style armor as she does in canon.
Possible changes: Tex has a temper; even when she's planning to keep it under control and not lash out, I can imagine it flaring pretty brightly.
Can they erase it?: noooo
Sun/wisteria: n/a
Anything else: Tex doesn't have her armor in-game so that's less of a consideration here. I just mentioned it earlier to demonstrate the type of temper she has.

Default fighting spirit: his will to survive no matter the cast is pretty all-encompassing despite him being a Little Guy. z-a spoilers etc. just know that if you look at him he's pretty much a raging inferno of "I have to live" and strongly motivated by it.
Possible changes: the way if anyone threatened his life his willpower would just burn brighter, closes my eyes... like staring into the sun
Can they erase it?: girl no
Sun/wisteria: if meganium knows solar beam does that count
Blood type rarity: this is a human man
Anything else: i was like, i'm gonna write that he's a little guy and then i remembered the [Z-A SPOILERS] and was like this twink has NYC Subway Rat levels of survival motivation, nevermind

If he's stuck in a fight, he has the terrible habit of telegraphing what's next (feral bitch problems-), but if he isn't it might be a little harder (0 to snap in 0.004 seconds, etc.) but absolutely not impossible, especially for Akaza!
Default fighting spirit: Soft gentle purple, kind of wisteria colored, but the flowers themselves aren't present if that'd be cause for alarm for him. Heavy, sleepy vibes. Looks like mist or smoke and hangs low to the ground - can be enough to fill a space, or can just cling around his person, depending on the general vibes of the scene.
Possible changes: With the proper motivation, it would flare up quickly and become more, well, flame-like. The color would become more vibrant, almost neon, and be run through with pink. Very patterns, very Gwi-ma, do not tell him about it. (Or do, I'm not your mom.)
Can they erase it?: Not in the slightest.
Sun/wisteria: None! His main color is absolutely wisteria-purple, but that's as far as the connection goes.
Blood type rarity: KPDH Demon Sparkle Guts probably make for some weird blood, but like. He also probably bleeds normal demon blood if it's not life or death, so run with whatever vibes you want to.
Anything else: Barking

Default fighting spirit:
Joshua: It looks like he's on fire tbh. But like, with feathers.
Zoey: It looks like the Honmoon, but if the Honmoon was a super cool hooded cloak.
Possible changes:
Joshua: By default it's a gentle little layer of flame and feathers, but it can flare to intense levels if angered. If someone he cares for is being threatened, it might even start to look a bit sun-like. If he begins to lose the will to fight, it will look like a hearth fire clinging to its coals.
Zoey: The more intense her fighting spirit, the brighter the "Honmoon" glows. If her fighting spirit starts to wane, it starts looking weak, thin and faded like a threadbare blanket.
Can they erase it?:
Joshua: Yes, in calmer everyday situations, but not very likely in a fighting situation.
Zoey: Looks at Zoey. No.
Sun/wisteria: Joshua is a priest of Beiwe! He doesn't exactly have any sun-related powers or anything, but he does have the mark of Beiwe on him if that does anything. Like, essence of Beiwe? Beiwe-flavored Lacroix?
Anything else: would he like to sense a bird. because he can sense a bird. bird is there. bird watches u.
